About the Isla Vista Carrotmob
What: Isla Vista Carrotmob “Improving our planet through consumer activism”
Who: Eco-savvy consumers and Isla Vista Market
Where: Isla Vista Market, 939 Embarcadero Del Mar, IV, CA
When: Saturday, November 21st from 1:00-5:00pm
The Environmental Affairs Board at UCSB is teaming up with Carrotmob to bring the “mob” to the streets of Isla Vista. On Saturday, November 21st from 1:00-5:00pm a group of eco-savvy Santa Barbara residents will collectively organize the way they purchase products at Isla Vista Market.
We asked all of the liquor stores in Isla Vista, “What percentage of the day’s gross revenue would you be willing to reinvest into energy efficient technologies like new lighting or insulation for the freezers?” Isla Vista Market took the cake with a bid of 20 percent and will host the first ever Carrotmob in Isla Vista. Sun Reconstruction Company will come in after the big day and conduct an energy audit and make recommendations to the winning store. This is a Win-Win scenario; the business wins, the consumer wins, and our planet wins!
During the Carrot Mob there will be music, educational information about climate change, workshops on how to become a smart consumer, and a Thanksgiving Food Drive donation bin.
All are encouraged to come out and join the “mob” in Isla Vista on Saturday, November 21st from 1:00-5:00pm and buy some beer, wine, or snacks!
